We are just not long back from Jon's clinic appointment. We managed to see the specialist early as the patient in front of us had not turned up.
Good news to start with was the specialist had compared the CT scan done in May with the one from November last year. The shadow which showed up on the first scan was still on the second, not quite as big though, and our man said it was just part of the Sarcoidosis so nothing to worry about at all. The films also showed that the lymph glands had reduced in size which is fantastic!
We asked about Jon's steroid medication saying we had reduced it a bit and then stopped completely to see what would happen. We thought he should go back on it as he sometimes felt short of breath but the specialist said Jon should just try and work through it without the steroids. Shortness of breath at times is just part of the condition.
So all is fantastic. Now Jon has to just get through the feelings of anxiousness he has at times. We have established the anxiety is caused in part, not by the fear of shuffling off this mortal coil as they say, but the consequences of it - that he would not have had enough time with me and the boys. Anyhow we are going to work on that, keep talking and we have a three-month's time appointment to see how things are going, plus a lung capacity test towards the end of this month which the specialist says he doesn't expect to come back as anything but normal.
We celebrated with a McFlurry and a Caramel Sundae and bought the boys some sweets. We are going out to eat with Jon's dad and his wife tonight so we'll have a couple of beers I think, just because we can.
Thank you for all your kind words and thoughts on the last post about this coming through the ether -so very much appreciated.
