Today I found that some lowlife has stolen the tin from our egg house at the front door.
Not only have they taken that but also a bag of garlic, a jar of lemon curd and half a dozen eggs. In total I have lost £3.50 worth of homegrown, or made, produce.
I am disappointed as did not expect that where we live.
I intend to put a sign outside saying please knock on the door if you wish to buy eggs etc.
So upset.

DeleteWe had lots of things nicked over the 20+ years that we sold at the gate, even got the car number once and reported them to the police who followed it up by visiting the people and giving them a warning!....for a dozen eggs! Sometimes we thought something was stolen and then a few days later some money would appear.
ReplyDeleteOnce we heard a car stop and then drive off but they must have realised that all they had got was a bag of kindling wood! as I found it strewn all over the road not far away.
All in all most people are scrupulously honest and if they didn't have enough change would come back and leave 5p with much apologies days later.
We got people to put money through the front door letter box in the end and had very little stolen after that.

Thanks for all that Sue. I have had people bring money back later but this was just so brazen, taking the money box, too. This is the first time anything has gone so I am really trying to concentrate on the honesty of most people.x
